O SAY CAN YOU SEE THE SOUL OF OUR NATION opens at Rhythmix Cultural Works in Alameda on Saturday, July 4, with an evening viewing from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
This one comes from K Gallery at Rhythmix and Citizen Joy, curated by Barbara Kibbe and Jeff Raz. The exhibit runs through August 29, giving East Bay folks a few chances to spend time with work that looks at the country through a more personal, layered lens.
Rhythmix has that Alameda arts space feel that makes gallery visits easy to settle into. It is welcoming, a little tucked away on Blanding Avenue, and built for community gatherings where people can actually talk, look, and stay awhile.
The featured voices here come through the artwork and the curatorial choices. Expect a thoughtful room, not a rushed one. If you want a July 4 plan with some meaning behind it, this is a good stop after the daytime noise fades.
There are also exhibit receptions on Friday, July 10 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and Saturday, August 29 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
