Magic, snacks, and table time at the Main Library
On Sunday, June 28, the Main TeenZone at Oakland Public Library is setting aside the afternoon for teens who want to play Magic the Gathering, with a focus on Commander.
The setup sounds easygoing: a library room, tables, cards, snacks, and other teens who are into story, strategy, and world building. New players can sit down and learn, while experienced players can bring their table sense and try out different moves.
The performers here are the players around the table. Expect big turns, odd alliances, careful planning, and a few laughs when a plan falls apart in public. That is part of the fun.
This is open to teens ages 12 to 18, and all materials are provided. So if you have never owned a deck, you can still show up and play.
The club runs from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm at 125 14th St in downtown Oakland, close to the lake and easy to reach from nearby transit. More details are on the event page.
