Wednesday making time at the Main Library TeenZone

If your teen likes beads, paint, yarn, glue, or just having a reason to make something with their hands, the Main Library TeenZone has a good midweek plan.

On Wednesday, July 15, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, Oakland Public Library opens up its craft supplies for youth in 6th to 12th grades. The setup is casual. Teens can stop by, pick a project, and spend a little time sewing, painting, crocheting, making collage, or trying whatever craft is on the table that week.

The Main Library has that downtown Oakland library feel: busy, public, and welcoming, with quiet corners mixed in with real community energy. The TeenZone gives young people their own space, which makes this feel less like a class and more like a relaxed afternoon with materials ready to go.

There is no stage and no booked performer for this one. The makers are the teens. That is part of the charm. Some people will come in with a plan. Others may sit down, grab supplies, and see what happens.
