Gameday Fridays at Oakland Public Library

Friday afternoon at the Main TeenZone is a good little reset before the weekend. From 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on July 3, teens can head to the Oakland Public Library at 125 14th St for video games, snacks of conversation, and some friendly bragging rights.

The TeenZone has that easy library feel, calm enough to hang out, but lively once the controllers come out. Expect games like Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart, with teens taking turns as the day’s racers, button mashers, and last minute comeback artists.

There is no stage act for this one. The performers are the players, especially when a tight race or close match gets everyone watching.

All teens are welcome, and there is no sign up needed. Just show up after school, grab a controller when it is your turn, and settle in for a low key Oakland Friday.
