Still Blooming brings flowers and neighbors together at Local Economy

This Saturday, July 11, Local Economy in Oakland is hosting a slow, hands on afternoon with flowers, jars, vases, and whoever happens to sit next to you.

The gathering runs from 1 to 3 pm and is led by Romi Hall of East Oak Bouquets. Romi will start with a short reflection, share a few basics on arranging flowers, then let everyone make their own piece at their own pace.

Local Economy feels like the right kind of room for this. Casual, neighborhood focused, and easy to settle into. This is the sort of event where the conversation matters as much as what ends up in the vase.

Bring a vessel, like a mason jar or small vase, plus a few bunches of flowers or greenery to share. Grocery store flowers are fine. Flower market stems are fine. Responsibly gathered greenery is fine too. No experience is needed, and the point is not to make something perfect.

At the end, guests will write themselves a small note to carry forward. That detail gives the afternoon a little weight without making it feel too serious.

If you have been wanting a low pressure way to meet people, make something with your hands, or just spend a couple hours around color and conversation, this is a good Oakland pick.

More event details

A community flower arranging gathering is exactly what it sounds like. Everyone brings their own vessel, flowers, and greenery to share. You tap into your creativity. You make something beautiful while talking, laughing, and getting to know the people next to you.
Even when the world is heavy, we can still find joy– and flowers are a good place to start. Romi Hall of East Oak Bouquets will open with a short reflection to get us grounded, walk you through the basics of arranging, and then set you free to make your own. At the end, you’ll write yourself something to carry forward.
No experience needed. This isn’t about a perfect arrangement. It’s about making one that is yours, being surrounded by community, and finding hope and joy in the beauty of flowers.
Bring a vessel (mason jar or vase) and a few bunches of flowers or greenery to share. Foraged (responsibly), Trader Joe’s, the Oakland or SF flower market.
Free and open to all. Hosted by Romi Hall of East Oak Bouquets.
