Rose Royce brings the groove to Yoshi’s Oakland on Saturday, September 12.
Yoshi’s is one of those Oakland rooms where the music feels close. You can make it a dinner night, settle into the low light, and actually hear the band the way a live soul and funk show should be heard. The Jack London Square setting helps too. A drink before the show, a walk by the water after, and you have a solid East Bay night out.
The evening is presented by the A List Musiq Circle, with Steven Parker of KDYA Radio hosting. Expect the band to lean into the songs people came to hear, including the kind of smooth, danceable grooves that made them a staple on radio and at family parties for decades.
There are two showtimes, 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm, so you can pick the pace of your night. Early dinner and music, or a later seat with a little more Saturday night energy.
If you like classic R and B, funk, and a room that keeps the focus on the players, this is an easy one to put on the calendar.
