Volunteer Day & Open House

Sunday at REAP Climate Center in Alameda

If your weekend could use fresh air, dirt under your nails, and a few useful skills, REAP Climate Center is opening the campus for a full Sunday of volunteering and community time.

The space has a grounded Alameda feel. Think garden beds, tools, compost, outdoor projects, and people moving at a real world pace. You might help with watering, planting, compost building, animal care, light construction, fabrication, or bigger build work, depending on what the team has ready that week.

The performers here are the volunteers, staff, neighbors, first timers, and regulars who show up and make the place run. No stage needed. The day is built around doing, learning, asking questions, and leaving with a better sense of how regenerative projects work up close.

The campus opens at 10am on Sunday, November 29. New volunteer orientation starts at 10am, followed by a morning volunteer session from 10:30am to 12:30pm. Bring your own lunch for the midday hang from 12:30pm to 1:30pm, then the afternoon session runs from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. After that, folks wind down and help clean up until sunset.

This is a good fit for curious adults, families, students, longtime gardeners, and people who have no idea where to start but want to learn. All ages are welcome, and experience is not required.

What to Expect:
Everyone, young or old, experienced or still learning, is welcome to join our Sunday and Wednesday volunteer days (and stay for Wednesday night potluck!). We do our best to update this volunteer page one week before the event to describe what tasks we have planned. Some possibilities include: watering, planting, compost building, animal maintenance, light construction or fabrication, and heavy construction.
