Get your hands dirty at REAP Climate Center in Alameda
If your Sunday could use some fresh air and real work, REAP Climate Center is opening its Alameda campus on October 11 for a full day of volunteering, learning, and hanging out with neighbors.
The space has a practical, earthy feel. Think garden beds, compost, tools, animal care, and people figuring things out together. It is the kind of place where you can show up curious and leave knowing a little more than when you arrived.
The day starts at 10:00 am with a new volunteer orientation, followed by a morning work session from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Bring your own lunch for the midday break, then join the afternoon session from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. After that, folks help clean up and wind down as the day moves toward sunset.
The day’s cast is the REAP crew, regular volunteers, first timers, families, gardeners, builders, compost people, and anyone who wants to learn by doing. Tasks can shift from week to week, but they may include watering, planting, compost building, animal maintenance, light construction, or heavier projects.
This is a good fit if you want a low pressure way to meet local people, learn about regenerative practices, and spend a few hours doing something useful outside. All ages are welcome, and no experience is needed.

What to Expect:
Everyone, young or old, experienced or still learning, is welcome to join our Sunday and Wednesday volunteer days (and stay for Wednesday night potluck!). We do our best to update this volunteer page one week before the event to describe what tasks we have planned. Some possibilities include: watering, planting, compost building, animal maintenance, light construction or fabrication, and heavy construction.
Before arriving, please read through our volunteer page and FAQ http://reapcenter.org/volunteering , and sign our online waiver http://reapcenter.org/waiver . All volunteering participants of all ages are required to sign the waiver before coming to campus.
