A hands on Wednesday at REAP Climate Center in Alameda

If you have been meaning to spend a little more time outside, this is an easy way to do it. On Wednesday, October 7, REAP Climate Center opens its Alameda campus from 2 to 6 pm for an afternoon of volunteer work, learning, and community time.

The place has a practical, earthy feel. Think garden beds, compost, tools, animals, projects in motion, and people sharing what they know while getting things done. It is the kind of setting where you might show up to water plants, help with planting, build compost, assist with animal care, or lend a hand on a construction task.

There are no stage performers listed for this one. The people carrying the afternoon are the volunteers, builders, gardeners, neighbors, and REAP regulars who keep the space moving. That is part of the charm.

Work usually goes until about 5 pm, then the group shifts into a Fireside Potluck. So you can put in some effort, meet a few people, and stick around for food and conversation if the evening feels right.

Before you head over, read the volunteer info and FAQ at reapcenter.org/volunteering. Everyone volunteering, including kids, needs to sign the waiver ahead of time at reapcenter.org/waiver.

REAP Climate Center is at 2133 Tynan Ave in Alameda. You can find the event listing here: Volunteer Day & Open House.

Regular Open House & Volunteer Days

Wednesdays 2 pm to 5pm.

Come volunteer at REAP Climate Center! Come by, lend a hand, and join our community of passionate doers. We usually work until 5pm and then transition to our Fireside Potluck!

Before arriving, please read through our volunteer page and FAQ http://reapcenter.org/volunteering , and sign our online waiver. All volunteering participants of all ages are required to sign the waiver before coming to campus.

We do our best to update this volunteer page one week before the event to describe what tasks we have planned. Some possibilities include: watering, planting, compost building, animal maintenance, light construction or fabrication, and heavy construction.

One thing we ask prior to visiting is filling out our WAIVER https://reapcenter.org/waiver .

Hope to see you here and learn together!
