Volunteer Day & Open House
September 30, 2026 9:00 pm
Wednesday afternoon at REAP Climate Center in Alameda has a simple plan: show up, help out, learn a little, and stick around if the potluck calls your name.
REAP sits at 2133 Tynan Ave, tucked into a working community space that feels more like a living classroom than a formal venue. Expect garden beds, tools, compost, animals, projects in progress, and neighbors who are there to do something useful with their afternoon.
The volunteer window runs from 2 pm to 5 pm, with the gathering continuing into the evening for a fireside potluck. Tasks can change week to week, but they may include watering, planting, compost building, animal care, light building work, fabrication, or heavier construction projects.
There are no stage performers here. The action is the group itself: people carrying soil, tending plants, fixing things, asking questions, and sharing what they know. That is the charm of it. You can come with experience, or you can come curious.
This is a good one for anyone who likes being outside, meeting Alameda folks, and putting a few hours toward climate focused community work. Families are welcome too, as long as everyone signs the waiver before arriving.
Before you go, read the volunteer details and FAQ at reapcenter.org/volunteering, and fill out the waiver at reapcenter.org/waiver.
