Volunteer Day & Open House at REAP Climate Center
Sunday, September 20, brings a full day of community work at REAP Climate Center in Alameda, starting at 10:00 am and running into the early evening.
This is the kind of local event where you show up ready to use your hands. The campus has a practical, outdoor feel, with space for learning, building, planting, composting, and meeting people who care about climate work in a very real way.
There are no performers listed for this one. The energy comes from the volunteers, organizers, and neighbors working side by side. Tasks may include watering, planting, compost building, animal care, light fabrication, or construction work, depending on what the campus needs that week.
The day starts with a new volunteer orientation at 10:00 am. The first work session runs from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, followed by a bring your own lunch hang from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. The second session runs from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm, with clean up and wind down after that.
Anyone can come, whether you have experience or are still figuring out which end of the shovel goes where. It is a good fit if you want to meet useful, kind people, learn about regenerative practices, and spend a Sunday doing something grounded.
Before you go, REAP asks all participants to fill out the online waiver. You can also read the volunteer info and FAQ ahead of time so you know what to expect.

What to Expect:
Everyone, young or old, experienced or still learning, is welcome to join our Sunday and Wednesday volunteer days (and stay for Wednesday night potluck!). We do our best to update this volunteer page one week before the event to describe what tasks we have planned. Some possibilities include: watering, planting, compost building, animal maintenance, light construction or fabrication, and heavy construction.
