Wednesday in Alameda: lend a hand at REAP Climate Center
REAP Climate Center is opening up its Alameda campus on Wednesday, August 12, from 2 pm to 6 pm for an afternoon of practical volunteer work, community time, and a fireside potluck after the tools are put away.
The setting is part garden, part learning space, part working climate project. Expect a relaxed outdoor feel at 2133 Tynan Ave, with people moving between tasks like watering, planting, compost building, animal care, light construction, or other hands on projects that need attention that week.
The REAP crew will be guiding the afternoon, and the volunteers are a big part of the action here. There is no stage lineup listed, but there is plenty happening on the ground. You may end up meeting neighbors, learning a new skill, or just spending a few useful hours outside.
If you are curious about local climate work in Alameda, this is a low pressure way to see the space and help out. All ages can take part, but everyone needs to sign the online waiver before arriving. REAP also asks visitors to read the volunteer page and FAQ ahead of time so they know what to expect.
Work usually wraps around 5 pm, then the group shifts into a Fireside Potluck. Bring your helpful mood, clothes that can get dirty, and a little patience for whatever the day calls for.

Come volunteer at REAP Climate Center! Come by, lend a hand, and join our community of passionate doers. We usually work until 5pm and then transition to our Fireside Potluck!
Before arriving, please read through our volunteer page and FAQ http://reapcenter.org/volunteering , and sign our online waiver. All volunteering participants of all ages are required to sign the waiver before coming to campus.
We do our best to update this volunteer page one week before the event to describe what tasks we have planned. Some possibilities include: watering, planting, compost building, animal maintenance, light construction or fabrication, and heavy construction.
