Little ones get the mic at Rockridge Branch Library this Thursday
If your toddler has been climbing the couch since breakfast, the Rockridge Branch of Oakland Public Library has a calm little reset waiting on Thursday, July 30, from 10:30 to 11:00 am.
This weekly story gathering is geared toward ages 1 to 3, with songs, short books, and the kind of group wiggles that make sense for small kids. Babies and older siblings are welcome too, so it can work for families with a mixed crew.
The Rockridge Branch has that classic neighborhood library feel. It sits right on College Avenue, close to coffee, snacks, and errands, which makes it an easy stop for parents and caregivers. Depending on the weather and the reader’s plan for the day, the group may meet outside in the staff parking lot behind the library or upstairs in the meeting room.
The performers here are the library story readers, and that is part of the charm. They know how to keep things simple, warm, and moving. A song, a page turn, a clap, a little pause. That is plenty when your audience is two.
Afterward, families are invited inside to browse and check out books. It is a nice way to build a small routine around reading without making the morning feel too scheduled.

Children of all ages are welcome; content geared toward ages 1 to 3 years. Sometimes we meet outdoors in the Staff Parking Lot behind the library. Other times we meet indoors in the upstairs Meeting Room – it depends on the weather, the temperature, and on our story-reader’s preference for the day. After storytime, we invite you to come inside the library to check out library materials.
