Graphic Novel Group at Oakland Public Library: Rockridge Branch

Rockridge has a good little Tuesday evening plan for comic readers, sketchbook carriers, and anyone who likes stories told in panels. This monthly meetup lands at Oakland Public Library: Rockridge Branch on September 22 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.

The branch sits right on College Ave, with that calm neighborhood library feel that makes it easy to settle in after work or dinner nearby. It is a low pressure room for talking books, sharing favorites, and meeting people who care about art and story.

The featured voices here are local readers, artists, writers, and guest creators who help shape each session. The series opened with Bay Area graphic novel authors Briana Loewinsohn and Thien Pham, and the meetings continue with a mix of book sharing, creator talks, and drawing or writing time.

Go if you want new reading ideas from the library shelves. Go if you have a character idea sitting in a notebook. Go if you are an artist looking for a writer, or a writer who wants to meet someone who draws. You can also just listen and see what people are making.

The gathering runs one hour, which feels just right for a weeknight. Free, neighborly, and easy to get to at 5366 College Ave in Oakland.
