Family Storytime

Family Storytime brings a gentle start to the morning at the Rockridge Branch of the Oakland Public Library, 5366 College Ave.
This is a simple half hour gathering for kids, with stories and songs led by the library staff. Children of all ages can come, though the picks are mostly aimed at little ones around ages 1 to 5.
The Rockridge Branch has that neighborhood library feel people like. It is calm, easy to settle into, and close to the College Avenue morning rhythm. Most sessions meet in the Upstairs Meeting Room, with some moving outside to the staff parking lot behind the library when the weather is friendly.
Parents and caregivers get a nice bonus too. After the reading and singing wraps up, there is time to hang around and chat with other families in the storytime space. That makes it a good pick if you are looking for something low key, social, and kid friendly without making a whole day of it.
