Writers gather in Rockridge for an afternoon of pages and feedback
On Saturday, August 22, the Rockridge Branch of the Oakland Public Library hosts a long running writers meet up from 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm.
This is a good one for anyone with a draft in progress, a notebook full of starts, or a story idea that keeps hanging around. The group welcomes writers at all stages, from first timers to published authors, and the focus is on craft, support, and useful feedback.
The performers here are the writers themselves. People read from their work, listen closely, and offer thoughts meant to help the piece grow. That kind of room can be hard to find, especially one that feels steady and welcoming.
The Rockridge Branch has the right feel for it. It is calm, neighborhood centered, and close to the College Avenue flow of coffee, lunch spots, and Saturday foot traffic. You can make an afternoon of it without much planning.

Our purpose is to promote fellowship and to provide practical information that supports all members in achieving their publishing goals. We have met at the Rockridge Branch for about 25 years where we read each other’s work and offer positive suggestions to help the author improve their work.
