Needlework and tea at Rockridge Branch
If your knitting bag has been sitting by the couch a little too long, Thursday afternoon is a good time to bring it out.
Oakland Public Library: Rockridge Branch is hosting its regular adult needlework gathering on September 3, from 1 to 3 pm. The branch sits right on College Ave, so it has that easy Rockridge feel. Quiet stacks, neighborhood foot traffic outside, and a room where people can settle in without feeling rushed.
Bring whatever you are working on. Knitting, crochet, sewing, quilting, mending, embroidery, all of it fits here. The “performers” are really the people around the table, with hands moving, patterns being figured out, and the kind of small talk that makes a project feel less lonely.
This group has been meeting for close to two years, so there is already a friendly rhythm to it. New people are welcome, including beginners who may need help getting past a tricky row or just want to sit with others while they learn.
Hot tea is provided, which is a nice touch for a library afternoon. You can show up with a project, make a little progress, and leave with a few new ideas from other local fiber art folks.
