Veterans Job Search Help
August 20, 2026 11:00 am
Veteran job support at Oakland Public Library
If you are a military veteran working through a job search, the Main Library in downtown Oakland has a useful stop on Thursday, August 20, from 11 am to 1 pm.
Robert McCockran, a veterans representative with America’s Job Center and the Employment Development Department in Oakland, will be at the Community Kiosk to talk one on one with veterans about job leads, referrals, search tips, and some unemployment insurance questions.
This session is especially meant for veterans facing bigger barriers to work, including older veterans, people who have been justice involved, people without stable housing, and those recently out of military service.
The Oakland Public Library is a calm, practical place for this kind of help. The Main Library sits near Lake Merritt and downtown, with space to sit, think, ask questions, and get pointed toward the next step without a lot of noise around you.
No stage, no speeches, no big production. Just a chance to talk with someone who works in veterans employment support and knows the local job system.
