Teen Magic the Gathering (MtG) Club @Main TeenZone

Commander tables in the Main TeenZone

Oakland Public Library has a good Sunday afternoon plan for teens who like strategy, stories, and a little friendly table talk. On October 4, the Main TeenZone at 125 14th St. is setting up for Magic the Gathering Commander from 2:00 to 4:30 pm.

The TeenZone is a relaxed spot for this kind of thing. It feels more like a hangout than a formal class, which is the right mood for a card game where the table can shift fast and every player brings a different style.

There are no stage performers here. The players make the show. One person builds a board slowly, another goes big early, someone else has a wild combo tucked away. New players can learn the flow, and experienced players can find a fresh pod without having to bring their whole setup.

All teens ages 12 to 18 are welcome, and the library is providing materials. Snacks are included too, which never hurts during a longer Commander game.

If you have been curious about MtG, this is an easy way to try it without spending money first. If you already play, it is a simple chance to meet other local teens who know the fun of a good draw and a better plan.

Teens!
