Teen crafts at the Main Library

Wednesday afternoon at the Oakland Public Library gets a little messier in the best way. The Main TeenZone is opening the craft supplies from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, with beads, paint, glue, crochet, collage materials, sewing supplies, and whatever this week’s project brings to the table.

The vibe is low pressure and easy to join. It is downtown, right inside the Main Library at 125 14th St, so it works well as an after school stop if you are already near the lake, City Center, or BART.

There is no stage lineup here. The performers are the teens making things, trading ideas, and figuring out what to do with a pile of supplies. Some people come in with a plan. Some just sit down and see what happens.

This is for youth in grades 6 through 12, and it runs every Wednesday in the TeenZone. If your teen likes to make things, wants a calm place to hang out, or needs a screen break with actual paint and thread involved, this is a solid Oakland afternoon plan.
