Beyond D&D: roleplaying game night
September 1, 2026 5:30 pm
Beyond D&D: roleplaying game night lands at Oakland Public Library on Tuesday, September 1, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.
This is a good one for anyone who likes tabletop storytelling but wants to try something outside the usual fantasy dungeon crawl. The session features short campaigns in different roleplaying systems, guided by an experienced DM who knows how to keep a table moving and make room for new players.
The Main Library setting gives the night a nice Oakland feel. It is calm, public, and easy to settle into after work. Instead of a loud bar or crowded shop, you get library tables, shared imagination, and a group of people building a story together.
The performers here are really everyone at the table. The DM sets the scene, but the players bring the odd choices, clever plans, and unexpected turns. Beginners are welcome, and seasoned players who are curious about other systems should have plenty to enjoy too.
All materials are provided. Drop in is okay, though space may be limited, so showing up on time is smart. The session is for ages 18 and up. Masks are appreciated and will be available.
Find it at Oakland Public Library, 125 14th St, Oakland. If you have been meaning to meet new people through games, this is an easy Tuesday evening way to do it.
