Planter painting at Oakland Public Library
Wednesday, August 19, the Oakland Public Library is hosting a relaxed evening craft session from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. This round is all about painting planters, which feels like a good fit for a late summer night in downtown Oakland.
The Main Library has that steady, public space feel. People come in to read, study, browse, cool off, or meet up. A craft table in that setting makes the whole thing feel easy to join, even if you are walking in after work with a tired brain and no big plan.
No performers are listed for this session. The focus is on guided making, with supplies provided and library staff helping keep things moving. You do not need to show up with skills or tools. Just bring some curiosity and maybe a plant idea for later.
These first and third Wednesday sessions change themes throughout the season, so this is a nice one to catch if you want something hands on without signing up for a full class. Paint a planter, talk with a few neighbors, and leave with something you made yourself.
When: Wednesday, August 19, 2026, 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm
Where: Oakland Public Library, 125 14th St, Oakland
