First Friday Oakland Art Walk at Manna Gallery
On Friday, August 7, Manna Gallery opens its doors from 5 to 8 pm for an evening in Oakland’s Uptown Arts District. If you like art walks with a neighborhood feel, this is an easy one to add to your route.
The gallery is showing Everything Must Go, a juried group show led by juror Lisa Solomon. The artist list is deep, with work by Norman Aragones, Malachi Arthur, Jordan Benton, Dana DeKalb, Eden Evans, Corrine Hatt, Sarah Klein, Faridah Laffan, Heath Massey, Renetta Sitoy, Hannah Claire Somerville, Martin Webb, Jia Wilson, Alexander Yoshikawa, and many more Bay Area artists.
The theme centers on release, transition, and renewal. That gives the show a lot of room to breathe. Expect different voices, different materials, and different ways of thinking about what we keep, what we let go of, and what comes next.
Manna Gallery has a calm, welcoming feel, which makes it a good stop during a busy First Friday night. You can spend a few quiet minutes with the work, talk with other art lovers, and still be right in the middle of the Uptown art scene.
The gallery is at 473 25th St in Oakland. The exhibit runs through August 8, with a closing event and awards on Saturday from 3 to 5 pm. For details, visit the event page.
