Everything Must Go – Closing Event, Juror Talk & Awards
August 8, 2026 3:00 pm
Closing afternoon at Manna Gallery in Oakland
Manna Gallery has a good reason to gather people on Saturday, August 8. From 3 to 5 pm, the 25th Street gallery will close out its juried group show with a talk from Bay Area artist, educator, author, and curator Lisa Solomon.
This is a nice one for people who like hearing how an exhibition comes together. Solomon will talk through her jury process, share what caught her eye, and point to works that shaped the feel of the show. Her own practice moves through mixed media, craft, memory, home life, and identity, so expect a thoughtful read on the work in the room.
The artist list is deep, with work by Norman Aragones, Malachi Arthur, Jordan Benton, Laurie Caird, Madelyn Covey, Dana DeKalb, Eden Evans, Elizabeth Evans, Shelley Gardner, Rachel Katz, Sarah Klein, Faridah Laffan, Heath Massey, Manuel Rodriguez, Tammi Salas, Yana Verba, Bill Ward, Jia Wilson, Alexander Yoshikawa, and many others.
Manna Gallery sits in that Oakland arts stretch where a Saturday visit can feel easy and unhurried. The space is intimate enough that you can actually spend time with the work, then stick around for a conversation without feeling lost in a crowd.
There will also be two awards announced during the event. One artist will receive a featured hallway exhibition at Manna Gallery during the 2026 to 2027 season. Another will be invited into the gallery’s annual year end group exhibition.
If you have been meaning to catch the show, this is the last day. Come by, hear from Solomon, see what local artists are making, and get a closer look at how a juried show takes shape in Oakland.
When: Saturday, August 8, 2026, 3 to 5 pm
Where: Manna Gallery, 473 25th St, Oakland, CA 94612
Join acclaimed Bay Area artist, educator, author, and curator Lisa Solomon for a special closing event celebrating Everything Must Go Juried Group Show. Known for her mixed-media works and large-scale installations that explore themes of identity, craft, domesticity, and personal history, Solomon has exhibited nationally and internationally and is the author of several books on art and creativity, including the forthcoming Art/Craft/Color. During this brief presentation, she will share insights into her selection process, discuss the exhibition’s themes, and highlight works that resonated with her vision as juror. Following the talk, she will present two exhibition awards that extend opportunities beyond the exhibition itself. The Juror Award includes a featured hallway exhibition at Manna Gallery during the 2026–27 exhibition season, while the Manna Gallery Award includes an invitation to the gallery’s annual year-end group exhibition. As Manna Gallery’s first juried exhibition, Everything Must Go reflects our commitment to building new relationships with artists throughout the Bay Area and creating meaningful opportunities for future exhibition, visibility, and community engagement within our gallery program.
