Seasonal Mending Circle

Seasonal Mending Circle comes to Local Economy in Oakland on Saturday, August 15, from 2 to 4 pm.
If you have a sweater with a hole, a shirt with a sad hem, or a button sitting loose in a drawer, this is a good reason to bring it out.
Local Economy has the right feel for this kind of afternoon. Think shared tables, neighbor talk, and people doing useful things with their hands. The pace sounds easy and practical, which is the whole point.
The gathering is hosted by LE members Marthine Satris, Carrie Sloane, and MaryAnn Placzek Scheuer. They will help hold the space while everyone sits together and fixes what they brought. Bring your own sewing supplies, plus anything that needs a little care.
This is a nice one for people who want to save a favorite piece of clothing, learn from someone sitting nearby, or spend a couple hours doing something calm and useful in Oakland. Open to all.
Gather up your pile of holey sweaters, shirts with unraveling hems, and tin of stray buttons, and haul them to Local Economy to make the old new again, by hand. Please bring your own sewing supplies, and we’ll all sit and fix together.
