Oakland Noticing Club: Shadows
October 10, 2026 1:00 pm
Oakland Noticing Club: Shadows lands at Local Economy on Saturday, October 10, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
This is a small, curious gathering for people who like looking twice. The theme is shadows, which feels right for Oakland in the afternoon, when buildings, trees, windows, and passing people all start making little shapes across the street.
Local Economy has a grounded neighborhood feel, the kind of place where a quiet hour can turn into a good conversation. There is no stage show planned. The performers here are light, walls, sidewalks, objects, and the people who show up ready to notice what is usually missed.
The meet up takes inspiration from Rob Walker’s Art of Noticing idea, with a focus on paying attention to everyday details. You do not need art training. You do not need special gear. Just bring your eyes, a little patience, and maybe a phone or notebook if you like to collect small observations.
If your week has been loud, this is a gentle way to reset. It is also a nice excuse to spend an hour with locals who enjoy strange corners, small patterns, and the city’s quiet visual jokes.
Details are at the event page.
