NEXUS Event at GearBox Gallery

GearBox Gallery has a good reason to linger on Saturday, October 3.

The Oakland space is taking part in the wider NEXUS program with MoAD and 58 regional art groups, and the afternoon has a nice, easy rhythm to it. GearBox is the kind of gallery where you can slow down, look around, and feel close to the work without feeling rushed.

Caleb Dowdell performs at 1:30 pm, which gives the day a live spark right from the start. Then upstairs in the Art Building at Transmission Gallery, William Rhodes gives an artist talk at 2 pm, followed by a gospel choir performance.

That mix is the draw here. You get visual art, live performance, an artist speaking about the work, and voices filling the building. It feels like the kind of East Bay afternoon where one visit can turn into a fuller art stop than you planned.

It runs from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm at GearBox Gallery, 770 W Grand Ave, Suite B, Oakland. If you like local art spaces with real people in the room, this is a solid Saturday plan.
