Charles Lucke: 54 Years of Storied Photographs
October 2, 2026 3:00 pm
Charles Lucke: 54 Years of Storied Photographs opens Friday, October 2 at Frank Bette Center for the Arts in Alameda.
Charles Lucke has spent 54 years making photographs with stories behind them, and this show gives East Bay art folks a chance to slow down with that long view. Expect images that feel lived in, the kind that make you wonder what happened right before the shutter clicked.
The Frank Bette Center has a warm, neighborhood feel. It sits at 1601 Paru St, in one of those Alameda spots where the pace drops a little once you walk in. The gallery rooms are easy to move through, so you can take your time without feeling rushed.
The featured artist here is Lucke himself, with decades of work on the walls. If you like photography, local arts spaces, or quiet weekend plans with a little substance, this is a good one to put on the calendar.
The exhibit runs through October 31. Gallery hours are Friday through Sunday, 11 am to 5 pm. The reception is Saturday, October 10, from 3 to 5 pm.
