Ocean Hoptimism brings Bay shark science to Faction Brewing
This Thursday night at Faction Brewing in Alameda, beer comes with a side of shark talk.
Dr. Meghan Holst will be there to share what researchers know about sharks in San Francisco Bay, what they are still learning, and how regular Bay Area folks can help take part. The talk runs from 7 to 8 pm, with the full event listed from 7 to 9 pm.
Faction is a good fit for this kind of evening. The space has that easy Alameda brewery feel, with big open views, plenty of room to settle in, and the Bay right there in the background. It is casual enough for a weeknight beer, but still interesting enough to make the night feel like you did something.
If you are into local wildlife, Bay ecology, science talks, or just want a reason to look at San Francisco Bay a little differently, this is worth a stop. Sharks are part of our local water story, even if most of us rarely think about them while crossing a bridge or walking the shoreline.
When: Thursday, October 1, 2026, 7 to 9 pm
Where: Faction Brewing, 2501 Monarch St, Alameda
