Books, voices, and a mellow night on Park Street

Alameda readers have a nice reason to head to Books Inc. on July 23. This monthly gathering brings people together to read aloud short passages that stuck with them.

Kisa Konrad hosts the evening, with the room itself doing much of the performing. One person might bring a line from a novel. Someone else might share a page from an old memoir, a poem, or something strange they found in a used book. The point is simple: bring words that landed with you, then hear what moved other people too.

Books Inc. on Park Street has the right feel for this kind of night. It is cozy, familiar, and easy to settle into, with shelves close by and that quiet bookstore buzz that makes people lower their voices without being told.

The listing notes a 6:30 pm start. If you like books but do not always want a full book club assignment, this is an easy way in. Bring a passage, or just come listen.

Passages: The Words that Move Us with Kisa Konrad at 6:30pm.Meeting on the 4th Wednesday of the month. Take turns reading aloud a passage that they found particularly striking, moving, poignant, etc. This can come from any genre of book, from any time period. Please join us!
