Start a Five Minute Comedy Set at Alameda Brewing
If you have ever sat at a show and thought, “I might have a few jokes in me,” this Thursday night class in Alameda gives you a place to test that thought out.
The series starts Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 7 to 9 pm at Alameda Brewing on Park Street. It is a relaxed spot for this kind of thing, with the easy feel of a neighborhood brewery and enough room to talk, listen, laugh, and try ideas out loud.
A professional stand up comedian leads the group through the process over six weeks. For the first five weeks, you work with the coach and a small class to shape your ideas into a five minute set. That means writing, trimming, timing, and getting used to saying the funny part into a real room.
The performers here are the people in the class. Some will be total beginners. Some may have tried an open mic once and want a little structure. That mix can make the room feel honest in a good way, since everyone is building something from scratch.
This is a good fit if you want a creative night out, a reason to get out of your head, or a low pressure way to see what stand up feels like before stepping onto a public mic. And yes, having a beer nearby probably does not hurt.
Details and registration are at the event page.
